The return of the most important French Antillean band of the 60’s and the 70’s. They bring a unique mix of Biguine, funk, Latin, Compas and early Zouk. Tip! Camille Sopran’n, who founded the band with guitarist Guy Jacquet and bassist Pierre-Edouard Décimus, personally selected this compilation from the Vikings’ vast discography of about 20 albums, starting in 1967. They obviously inherited a lot from “roots music” (Gwo Ka), jazz and the beguine that had been played on the island since the late 19th century, and of which they give a dazzlingly modern version on “Tou Touni”

Andi Hanley - RK #13

UK 2x12" / White Label

Downtempo Synth-pop Zouk

A - Raffles

B - Ba Nou

C - Syn-Syn

D - Kinshasa

Fresh from an appearance on Balearic Blah Blah, Andi Hanley sidles over to fellow Mancunian Ruf Dug's Ruf Kutz label with some beautiful, sunkissed tones in mind to keep you gliding on the good vibes no matter how grim it may be outside. "Raffles" is a gently pattering piece that seems to hark from the Terry Riley school of repetition, albeit played through blocky synth tones and delicate refrains. "Ba Nou" is a more flamboyant 80s-flavoured cut with some excellent tom fills, slick guitar licks and powerful brass stabs. "Syn-Syn" is a melancholic, borderline noirish synth ballad, and "Kinshasa" heads for the dancefloor with its pronounced beat and canned funk sound.

Riccardo Schirò - Mediterranea

1x12" / Mini-Album

Zouk House Ambient

A1 - Cashmere Complex

A2 - Mediterraneanism

A3 - Gibraltar Silhouette

B1 - El Bahira

B2 - Viva Voce

B3 - Onde Radio

Following hot on the heels of the Lamusa II single, Gravity Graffiti keep up their mission into imagined exotic terrain apace with this transmission from Riccardo Schiro. The Italian producer has previously been aligned with the Mystic Jungle Tribe posse, so you know that his credentials in creating rich, synthesiser led music are to be trusted. There's an aquatic delicacy about Mediterranea, not least on lead track "Cashmere Complex", while you can also find some shimmering island boogie on "Mediterraneanism". Forget Balearic - this record is sailing out to an unknown sun-baked archipelago somewhere between the Aeolian islands and the infinite reaches of outer space.

Shelter - Banzawa

House Zouk

A - Banzawa

B - Pikolo

Shelter is a young french producer based in Paris, he released edits on Mellah, Edits du Plaisir and Edits du Golem and production on Plaisir Partagé, Uber and International Feel in the same serie that Jan Schulte or CFCF in just 2 years. He's graphist designer for Plaisir Partagé.BANZAWA is the new shelter, a 2 tracks Ep focused on Balearic and electronic music, but influenced by Italo House and Zouk. He composed with Roland TR 707 and Korg M1.Bazawa, the A side, is a journey into a mysterious jungle in a european night club in the 90's, the kind of underground italian sound with a beautiful ushuaia flute catchy bassline. this is a travel invitation, between Trance, house, and new age, a balearic meditation for dancing. The B side is Pickolo, a jumping track, where Marimba and whistle gives the full cadence of the song, a mix of nice melody and afro rhythm, a jungle by day, cute and animated. For the same price, Shelter proposes two different mood, two different vison of house music, two different way for dancing.
